This November, Houstonians will elect a new Mayor. The two
top contenders are Adrian Garcia and Sylvester Turner. This blog will communicate
my position on the election.
Sylvester Turner has developed an extensive record in the Texas
House and communicated his ideas for Houston on his website, while Sheriff
Adrian Garcia has been mute on his plans for Houston.
In the Texas House, Sylvester Turner has supported policies
to attract doctors to underserved areas, increased funds for mental health services
in Harris County and has encouraged consumer choice in our utility providers.
As Mayor, he has promised he would improve our roads, make our neighborhoods
safer, support our public schools, create job training programs and give
working people a better chance to get ahead.
Adrian Garcia has a website; however, nowhere on the website
does he detail his plans for Houston. If you look at his record, his time as
Harris County Sheriff has been successful but lacks major changes made to the
organization as previous Sheriffs have done.
Until Adrian Garcia better explains his plans for Houston,
my support goes to State Representative Sylvester Turner.
I am very surprised Adian Garcia has not published his platform. To me, it seems as though Adrian is hiding his intentions.
